Willy Wonka Candy

In the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, several candies feature prominently. The chocolate Wonka Bar with its 5 golden tickets take center stage, but several others play important roles tempting the children. The everlasting gobstoppers and the three course dinner chewing gum are two that feature in the book and films.

Everlasting Gobstoppers were first produced by Breaker Confections in 01976 as a movie promotion tie-in. They are still produced to this day.

The three course dinner chewing gum was never re-created, but we can get close!

There is a company called Lofty Pursuits, which makes candies in Tallahassee, Florida, USA. They have a YouTube Channel which shows how they make candy ‘drops’ using victorian moulds, how they make pulls and taffy. There are plenty of small candy shops using similar methods and creating similar products, but Lofty Pursuits takes it one step further with their flavors!

Every year, you can order a bag of “thanksgiving dinner” candy, but it sells out! The bag contains several pulls in various flavors, sweet and savory, representing a typical thanksgiving dinner. The Holiday Feast Assortment Extra big helping edition 2025 has 8 courses for the feast:

Ham: A fine Virginia ham, served candied.
Sweet Corn: Fresh off the farm this corn will evoke memories of buttery goodness.
Squash: Harvested in full ripeness, this summer squash will have you coming back for seconds.
Carrot:   Maple glazed carrots.
Stuffing: Greg calls it dressing in his house, but it is a Celery Stuffing.
Cranberry: Traditional in the sauce style not the can style.
Pecan Pie: Clearly a southern tradition
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie: A holiday standard.

These are the most Wonka-esque candies you can buy. If you close your eyes you can taste thanksgiving. It’s crazy how well you can imbue the flavor of Ham into a piece of sugary candy.
