Sumardagurinn fyrsti (First Day of Summer)

0216Q1 Reykjavik, ICELAND: According to the Old Icelandic calendar, we are in the last few days of the month of Einmánuður. Einmánuður translates to one or last month, because it is the last month of the winter season. On Thursday, April 21st, we tip into the Icelandic month of Harpa. This is officially the First Day of Summer in Iceland and is a public holiday celebrating the end of winter and six months of summertime.

The Art of Jill Pelto takes a series of data sets and illustrates them in beautiful ways. For example, the Decline of Glacier Mass Balance as a water color painting. It is an interesting twist on data visualisations as art.

Food Coloring

We like our food to taste good, but more importantly, look good too. Here are a few color matching tools to know you are ready to eat.

The DSM SalmoFan™ launched first in 01989 by Hoffman-La Roche as "Colour Card for Salmonids" is the industry’s reference standard for the visual judging and comparison of degrees of pigmentation in salmon flesh.

Incase you were wondering, there is a YolkFan for your Eggs.

Bananas
The banana guide illustrates the various color of a banana during its lifetime. Each color represents the sales potential. Records show that bananas with Pantone color 13-0858 (Vibrant Yellow) are less likely to sell than bananas with Pantone color 12-0752 (Buttercup), which is one grade warmer, visually, and seems to imply a riper, fresher fruit.

DASHBONES
Your bare bones dashboard

ZERO complications, ZERO settings. It is only as smart and up-to-date as the JSON URL you supply.

We’ve tried lots of dashboarding solutions and created a few ourselves. We’d certainly prefer to use a Responsive HTML webpage, but hardware devices being what they are don’t all have a browser.

Dashbones is there to bridge that gap, you can implement all the normal web programming logic you ready know and get the data to display onto you’re Apple TV or iOS device.
